The Festival of Solidarities

For more than 23 years now, the Festival of Solidarities (Festisol) has been a key event for everyone who seeks to promote solidarity in their country. Festisol groups have been established in France, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Togo, etc. Each year the Festisol take place during the second half of November.

What is the Festival of Solidarities all about?
Under the umbrella of Festisol, every November more than 2,400 associations, schools and cities organise events with a serious purpose but a fun and friendly atmosphere in order to celebrate local and international solidarity. These two weeks of events bring people together, encourage them to reflect on issues of common concern, and work to create a world that is more equitable, united and sustainable. In this way, Festisol helps to raise awareness and mobilise people to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For solidarity that is open to the world and to others
The Festival of Solidarities supports the values of a solidarity that is open to the world and to others: anyone can join the movement and help to build solidarity in a village, district, country, or even the world, in order to promote a plethora of united alternatives to the current situation! Street entertainment, games, screenings, debates, exhibitions, shared meals, solidarity marches, concerts, shows, workshops: the wide range of events means all types of people can be reached and awareness raised in a festive and convivial setting.

How can you get involved in Festisol?
It’s easy to get involved in Festisol: whatever your structure, you can organise events under the Festisol umbrella. The important thing is that you identify with its vision of solidarity, as explained in the Charter of the Festival of Solidarities. This charter enables a wide range of people to unite around values and principles that create a common framework for action, such as concerted approaches and a vision of solidarity that is not based on pessimistic clichés nor on fund-raising and assets as its main objective.
